Casino revenue takes a dip on Coast in June

For the first time this year, monthly gross casino revenue in South Mississippi was lower than last year.

Coast casinos won $95.5 million in June, which is 3 percent below June 2014. It's the second best June for Coast casinos since 2008.

After five months of increasing revenues, the 11 Coast casinos are still on a roll for the first half of the year. Revenue for the first half of the year is $579.6 million compared to $542.6 million in the first two quarters of 2014, an increase of $37 million.

The report from the Mississippi Department of Revenue shows:

• Coast casinos were down $3 million to $95.5 million from $98.5 million in June 2014.
• River casinos were down $260,145 in June compared to the same month last year.
• State revenue fell $3.3 million, or 2 percent, to $172.8 million from $176.1 million last year.
